‘CHATS’ [ep. 3] – Diversity of representation in the South African Fashion Media with Kelly Fung

‘Chats’ is a show where we invite experienced African fashion professionals- working in various sectors across the continent’s fashion industries- to candidly discuss a topic or issue related to their work. It’s been a while but we’re back with another important discussions on issues facing the South African fashion industry.

Diversity has become a global buzz word in fashion with everyone jumping on the bandwagon to seem as “woke” and represent a wider variety of people, but are they? Is diversity just another trend? Is it realistic to expect a lasting change? And where does South African fashion media fare in this worldwide conversation?

We sat down with the Editor-in-Chief of ELLE South Africa, Kelly Fung, to get her experienced opinion on the issue of diversity and representation in the country.
