FILM-ed Went To Trinidad & Tobago

Our FILM-ed Cinema platform sets out to showcase fashion films 100% created by African creatives living and working on the continent today. With open submissions, we are always looking to welcome work by as many film makers as possible to FILM-ed whose work represent Africa in how we interpret our rich history, cross-cultural present and potential of our future.

From October 12 – 14, we were honored to be able to take the next step in realizing our goal with the platform as we became official Program Partners at the 2nd annual Caribbean Fashion & Arts Feature Festival.

CFAFF is a non-profit organization operating in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with the mission to merge fashion, film and art through public film screenings, lectures, exhibitions, fashion shows, concerts and festivals for the general public. With a strong interest in youth development, the organization is also mandated to host workshops, mentorship initiatives, educational sessions and seminars related to film-making, fashion and arts for young people aged 15-25, primarily in East Trinidad, interested in careers in the creative sector. This year they welcomed films from  France, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, South Africa, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Italy and the USA.

REconnecteD had the opportunity to have a dedicated segment, dubbed “FILM-ed by REconnecteD”, where we showcased original and independently produced South African fashion films. The films were agreed upon with CFAFF organizers and selected from films submitted to us as of September 2017 in accordance with what they believed their audience would best prefer to see.

Since the festival we have received incredible feedback from attendees and organizers appreciating being able to see fashion films they otherwise may not have been able to.

We have begun planning to take FILM-ed to more film and fashion lovers across the globe in 2018 and would love to welcome more African film makers to submit their fashion films to join the platform and have their work reach a wider audience.

To submit a film to the FILM-ed Cinema, kindly email us a Google Drive, WeTransfer, etc. link to the film along with a short description to and a member of our team will be in touch shortly. Submissions are always open!
